Most happy customers are willing to leave a review. They just don't think of it, or they don't know where to tap. The businesses with hundreds of reviews aren't necessarily better than you; they simply ask, every day, and make it easy.
Ask at the right moment
The best time to ask is when the customer is happiest: right after a successful treatment, a great haircut, a delicious meal, or when they thank you. A simple line works: "If you liked our service, a Google review really helps us."
Make it one tap
Every extra step loses people. Instead of "search for us on Google and find the review button", give them a direct link:
- Share your review link on WhatsApp after the visit.
- Print a QR code at the billing counter.
- Use an NFC review card: the customer taps their phone on the card and the review page opens.
Train your team
Your receptionist, billing staff or delivery team meets more customers than you do. Give them one simple sentence to say and the card or QR code to show.
What not to do
Google's rules are clear, and breaking them can get reviews removed or your profile restricted:
- No incentives. Don't offer discounts, gifts or freebies in exchange for reviews.
- No review gating. Don't ask only happy customers, or filter people before sending them the review link. Ask everyone.
- No fake reviews. Don't write reviews yourself, ask staff or family to write them, or buy them.
- No review stations. Don't set up a device in your shop where customers leave reviews from the same phone or Wi-Fi.
Reply to every review you get
Customers are more likely to leave a review when they see that the owner reads and replies. Reply to every review, good or bad.
