Google Business Profile Attributes: Small Details That Help Customers Choose You

When customers compare two clinics, two salons or two restaurants on Google, they often look at small details. Is there parking? Do they take UPI or cards? Is there wheelchair access? Is it suitable for kids?

These details are called attributes on your Google Business Profile. Many businesses never fill them in, which leaves customers guessing.

What attributes are

Attributes are short facts about your business that Google can show on your profile. The options you see depend on your business category and country, so a restaurant sees different choices from a dental clinic or a gym. Common groups include:

  • Accessibility: wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating or washroom.
  • Payments: cash, debit and credit cards, mobile or UPI payments where available.
  • Amenities: Wi-Fi, washroom, parking, air conditioning.
  • Service options: dine-in, takeaway, delivery, online appointments, on-site services.
  • Planning: appointment required, walk-ins welcome.
  • Crowd and atmosphere: family-friendly, good for kids, and similar options for some categories.
  • Owner-identified attributes: some categories can show labels such as women-owned or women-led, if that's true for your business.

Some attributes are set by you, and some are based on what customers report when they answer questions about places they visited.

How to add or edit them

  1. Sign in to the Google account that manages your profile.
  2. Search for your business name on Google or open it in Google Maps.
  3. Choose Edit profile and look for the More or business details section.
  4. Go through each attribute and mark what applies. Save.

Changes may take a little time to appear, and Google may review them.

Which ones matter for your business

  • Clinics and diagnostic centres: wheelchair access, appointment required, online appointments, parking.
  • Salons and spas: appointment or walk-in, payment options, women-led if true.
  • Gyms: parking, air conditioning, washrooms, payment options.
  • Restaurants and cafes: dine-in, takeaway, delivery, family-friendly, outdoor seating, payment options.
  • Coaching centres: online classes, on-site classes, parking.
  • Real estate offices and astrologers: appointment required, online appointments, on-site visits.

Be accurate, not generous

Only mark what is true today. If you tick "wheelchair-accessible entrance" and a customer arrives to find three steps and no ramp, you've lost their trust and probably earned a bad review. If you don't have your own parking, don't mark parking because there's sometimes space on the road.

Attributes are not a place to add keywords. Fill in what is offered, nothing more.

Keep them updated

Attributes go out of date quietly. Check them whenever something changes:

  • You start or stop home delivery.
  • You add a ramp, a lift or a new washroom.
  • You start accepting a new payment method.
  • You move to an appointment-only system.

With Dhanteras today and Diwali on Sunday, this is a good moment to check that service options such as delivery and takeaway are correct before the rush.

A five-minute attribute check

  1. Open your profile as a customer would, on your phone.
  2. Read every label shown under your business name and in the About section.
  3. Ask: is each one still true today?
  4. Note anything missing that customers often ask about on the phone, such as parking or card payments.
  5. Edit, save, and check again in a few days to confirm the changes are showing.
Attributes answer a customer's questions before they need to call. Fewer doubts mean more visits.
